About Elizabeth Lawson

Elizabeth Lawson.jpg

Welcome to Elizabeth Lawson Church Vestments Worldwide. Allow me to tell you a little bit about me and where I come from.

I live in a small city called Preston, in the North West of England with my husband, two young girls, a cat and a number of fish.

The original company began back in the 1980's as 'Oremus', whereby my mother (Sheila Grogan), a talented sewer, began making church vestments on her trusty Singer sewing machine from her front room.

In 1999, after gaining my BA honours degree in Textiles and Surface Pattern Design, I joined my mother and together the business grew further still, combining her talent for sewing and my flair for design. As the business grew so did our image, and turned into ‘Oremus Vestments’.

Sadly my mother passed away in 2013, and I decided to carry on her legacy in the Church Vestment business, and embracing all aspects of the business, rebranded as 'Elizabeth Lawson Church Vestments Worldwide'.

All designs are created by me, I sew, applique and lovingly hand paint every single made to order stole. I will work with you to create a bespoke Stole combining any ideas or suggestions with my creative skills to produce a truly original piece.

I also have a number of 'off the peg' solutions that are available to view via the website, covering the majority of the religious calendar year. If however you do not see quite what you are looking for, please feel free to get in touch and I will be happy to discuss your requirements with you.

I have put a lot of time and thought into trying to make my website as easy as possible to navigate as there are so many designs, colours and options. I hope you enjoy browsing through my designs.
